Lambi Dehar Mines – Death Mine
Lambi Dehar Mines is yet another most haunted place in Uttarakhand and the story behind it will leave you spellbound. It was back in the 1990s when thousands of workers lost their lives due to a lack of basic maintenance and safety essentials. Almost 50,000 workers continued to mine lime in the suffocating environment and coughed blood which ultimately led to their death. Yet even after all this, no action was taken to compensate for the loss. Following this horrifying incident, the mine was shut down and the residents abandoned the area and relocated.
But wait, that was not all.
The cries of all those dead workers can still be heard during the late night hours. More so, many believe that a witch still resides here and is found roaming on the ground. Furthermore, many mysterious accidents and a helicopter crash have happened around this area which are all believed to be done by that witch. Hence, the locals always warn the visitors to remain as far as possible from this mine to avoid any mishaps.

Originally known as the Abbey Guesthouse, Mukti Kothari is the scariest place in Uttarakhand. Situated on Abbott Hill, this bungalow was formerly owned by a British family who donated it to help build a hospital for those in need. Later, the bungalow was converted into a well-equipped hospital, and proper medical help was provided to all the needy. But here’s the twist
Everything was going well until a new doctor arrived at the hospital who claimed to foretell patients about their deaths. This developed a curiosity among all.
So now every time a new patient was admitted to the hospital, the doctor would pretend to have some godly powers and foretell at what time and on which date the person would die. And you know what’s the strangest part? The patient would die at the exact same time and day.
However, according to the natives, this prophecy was sealed by a hideous secret. In order to prove his forecasts right, the doctor would take innocent patients to a room termed Mukti Kothari (room of freedom/liberation) and would kill them on his own.
Hence, now the bungalow is believed to be haunted by the spirits of those innocent patients
